Remembrance day poppies with a wintery sky.
My husband remembers remembrance day celebrations at his school in South Africa, Delville Wood being the name heard most often, and meeting men, then still alive, who fought in that battle. Arriving in the UK we realised nobody had heard of Delville Wood, clearly a uniquely South African perspective.
But the remembrance is much sharper in the UK for both World Wars, and the poppy remains a very strong symbol.
