“Remove the old leaven, that you may be a new lump…” – 1 Corinthians 5:7
Today is the Day of Unleavened Bread — a time when, traditionally, every trace of leaven is cleared from the home. Symbolically, leaven represents sin, pride, and anything that puffs us up or corrupts from within.
As Easter draws near, we remember that Jesus, our Passover Lamb, was sacrificed to make us new. His death and resurrection aren’t just events to commemorate — they’re a call to examine our hearts, clear out the old, and make space for the risen life He offers.
So yes, maybe I will clean my house today — but more importantly, I’ll ask:
What needs to go so that something holy can grow?
