Collection: Koi Fish

I've always been inspired by the lively colours of Koi fish.  These painting focus on the Koi with the pond falling to the background.  Honestly it's the Koi that should attract everyone's attention.

Koi is an informal name for the coloured varieties of carp kept for ornamental purposes. There are many varieties originating from breeding that began in Niigata, Japan in the early 19th century. Several varieties are recognized by the Japanese, distinguished by colouration, patterning, and scalation. Some of the major colours are white, black, red, orange, yellow, blue, and cream.  Source: Wikipedia

If I'm honest, I know nothing about Koi! Which patterns or colours are rarest and most prized.  I'd love to chat to any collectors who'd like to commision a painting of their prized fish.
